Katie Mac is a Prince Edward Island writer of fiction – crime, thrillers and westerns with a little bit of love and comedy. When not writing or working her day job in PR, she is pursuing her latest obsession: fly fishing and fly tying.

She has published two novels to date: a crime novel set in PEI called Ken’s Corner and a historical western called Lee West.

She won an Island Literary Award for her fishing short story ‘The Key to Wednesdays’. She took second place in the Island Literary Awards in 2020 for her short story ‘Walk me out.’ – a story from the world of Ken’s Corner.

Katie is co-founder of the PEI GIFted Genre Writing Group – a PEI writing club for those working on the off-beat or off-planet, the gore or the splatter, the crude comedy or the killer cowboys. She is a co-editor and contributor to the group’s five volumes of short stories called GIFt Horse.

Katie is also a screenwriter. She was a co-writer for the comedy short film ‘Hot or Not’ which aired at the Charlottetown Film Festival. 

She won the 2022 Pitch for Your Life competition for a short film based on the life of PEI-born wild west outlaw George ‘Flat Nose’ Currie. ‘Currie’ was the recipient of awards and was later adapted into a series for Bell TV1. 

Katie also hosts a fishing and cooking show on Bell Tv1 called Here Fishy, Fishy.
